When is the camp open?
The camp is open from September 1 to June 15. We close in summer because desert temperatures pass 50°C. See the best time to visit Erg Chigaga for month-by-month temperatures.
How do I get to Erg Chigaga Luxury Camp?
The camp lies deep in the Erg Chigaga dunes, about 60 km of off-road driving from M’Hamid. Plan on two hours or more by 4WD across sand, dried riverbeds and rocky plateaus. This stretch needs a 4WD vehicle, and our own Toyota Land Cruisers cover it. There is no mobile signal at the camp, so share your arrival plans with us before you travel. What is included in a stay?
Your rate includes breakfast and dinner, plus sandboarding, music around the campfire and nomad visits by 4WD. Lunch and drinks are not included. Camel rides, stargazing and quad biking are optional extras, so please ask for their current prices when you request your quote. See the full list on our activities page.
How much does a stay cost?
Rates start at the prices below. They are per person per night, in US dollars, and include breakfast and dinner:
- Basic double room (one double bed): from $90 per person
- Tent for three adults: from $135 per person
- Quadruple room with private bathroom (up to four guests): from $179 per person
Rates change with the season and the size of your group, so please ask for a free quote for your exact dates. Our camp prices page shows what is included and what costs extra.
Which camp should I choose?
- Main Camp: eight traditional nomad tents with a permanent shower and toilet block, a dining tent and an open-sided Berber tent for gatherings.
- Luxury Camp: five ensuite tents with a private bathroom, set in a canyon-like oasis among the dunes.
- Private Camp: four ensuite tents for families or friends who want privacy.
- Private Nomadic Mobile Camp: a single tent for two, suited to couples and honeymooners who want to be far from everyone else.

Do the tents have private bathrooms?
In the Luxury Camp and the Private Camp, yes. Each tent has an ensuite bathroom with a flush toilet, a sink and a hot and cold shower. The Main Camp uses a permanent shower and toilet block with European-style facilities.
Is there electricity at the camp?
The camp runs on solar power, and the tents in the Luxury Camp and the Private Camp have electricity.
